When is a prototype not a prototype

for me..
'Prototype': Created when rendering ideation in to more solid forms that can be peer reviewed to produce a single candidate.
'Mockup': The presentation of the single candidate to stakeholders, used to gain consensus and sign-off in to implementation.

Every process is different.
